In Ozernoe gorge I saw two soaring Black Kites, one Kestrel, several Grey-headed Goldfinches, one Common Rosefinch. In Prokhodnoe gorge above the Alma-Arasan I observed only two Brown Dippers. [...... read more ]

Today I saw the low soaring Lammergeier again. The bird didn't pay attention to the people which were quite a close to the bird. The Lammergeier carefully explored the slopes of the gorge. In addition to Lammergeier two Black Kites soared in the sky. Also I saw Kestrel, male Common Rosefinch and juvenile Brown Dipper. [...... read more ]

After more the one month period without special birding trips I with Raufael Bairashev made the birding tour to Degeres. In the colony of Rosy Starlings there was the noise which I didn't wait. I thought that Rosy Starlings already started the autumn wanderings. But we saw that many juvenile birds couldn't make it. The large part of juveniles still needs the parental support. These short-tailed young birds hid between large rocks, in the bushes and from time to time were shown and asked the food. The parents of these young birds flew all around in the searching of the food. The juveniles which could self forging flew together with adult birds. The second popular today's bird was Lesser Grey Shrike. Shrikes fed juveniles too. The Demoiselle Cranes flew to the lake. There were two Grey Herons on the lake too. The interesting observation: the Black Stork flew out to the west. It was my second observation of the Black Stork in Degeres. Probably Storks nest in the local rocks. Also I saw three [...... read more ]

At sunrise time I waked up and at 6 am I was on the glacier. The first birds I saw were the Yellow-billed Choughs picked up insects on the snow. Probably at cold night many insects were frozen on the snow because later I observed the Carrion Crows and the pair of Ravens picked up insects on snow too. But first birds were Choughs. By the binocular I saw that Choughs flew to the cracks of rocks. Probably there were them nests. All time Cuckoo's and some times Raven's crying were audible. In the alone little spruce tree there were the nest of Brown Accentor. The bird with the insect in the bill tried to fly by me into the spruce. Then the Wolves approached. One Wolf stood ahead of me and second one came behind. I began to photograph them and they left. In the rocks the Water Pipits occurred. They many flew and sang. I thought that I will see a lot of birds in the snow and rocks near the glacier, but I didn't see it. Later I saw one another one Brown Accentor. But I couldn't to close to it [...... read more ]

In the birch forest there were a bit of birds. I saw the little flock of Grey-headed Goldfinches. Once I heard Woodpecker's drum. In the birch tree hole I found the nest of the Eurasian Redstart, also in birch forest I saw male Common Rosefinch and Mistle Thrush. Above the birch forest in the meadows I heard Grasshopper Warbler, Cuckoos and saw one flying male Pheasant. In the spruce forest Tree Pipits were the most noticeable birds. I saw Coal Tits too. Over KokJailau plateau one immature Himalayan Vulture soared. At evening time I observed the spruce forest with the low juniper bushes. In my opinion birds prefer to nest in the juniper bushes under or close to the spruce tree. In such places I saw Eversmann's Redstarts (the pair), Red-mantled Rosefinches, White-winged Grosbeaks (the pair). When I closed to the Red-mantled Rosefinches, they flashed from the juniper and hid in the spruce. But when I departed they immediately came back into the bush. Eversmann's Redstarts with insects in [...... read more ]

There are no Rosy Starlings in Sorbulak. The colony site is empty. The loner Dalmatian Pelicans floated. Crested Grebes floated with chicks on the back. Great Cormorants were not a lot, two birds were on the bank, the single birds from time to time flew by. Grey Herons, Great White Egrets, Ruddy Shelducks with chicks, Ferruginous Ducks, Red-crested Pochards, Northern Shovelers, Black-winged Stilts, Lapwings, Caspian Gulls, Black-headed Gulls, one Kingfisher, Common Starlings. On the sand bank Terns fed juveniles; Common Terns located in one side of the bank, but Little Terns a little further. The active movement was going on inside the reeds, Coots and Crested Grebes were hearable and visible, from time to time the large warblers (probably Great Reed or Clamorous Reed Warblers) and Little Bitterns flew off from the reeds. On the back way on roadsides the most noticeable birds were Black Kites and Rosy Starlings. [...... read more ]
